LAPs1 Lakatamia

The first round of LAPs in Lakatamia was part of our projet Global Education Goes Local (GEGL). It consisted of different activities :
- On the 24th of November there was a big event on sustainability and environmental issues, with different activities. Swimming competitions for children and teenagers were organised by the Nautical Club, and Myrto Skouroupathi, an Environmental Engineer at Cyprus Energy Agency informed the public about plastic pollution and alternatives to plastic use. A collaborative graffiti about this topic was created by the participants.
- On the 23rd of February of 2019, Lakatamia’s youth council in collaboration with Lakatamia's cycling clubs organised a cycling excursion, the starting point was the cycle lane along Pedieos River. Members of the youth council distributed informative flyers to the pedestrians walking along the river. The action aimed to inform people on the benefits of living a sustainable lifestyle stressing at the same time important issues around sustainable development. The second action was a mix-gender basketball game during which both female and male children had the opportunity to enjoy together a basketball game; the action included a brief introduction to what gender equality is and why we should strive for it.
