Centro de Estudos para a intervencao social cesis The CESIS - Centre for Social Intervention Studies is a non-profit association, founded in January 1992, which condenses a work experience started in 1986. Studies conducted over the first year of activity of Team focussed primarily on issues of poverty and social exclusion in urban areas. Such studies have contributed decisively to introduce these topics in scientific reflection in Portugal, as well as to give them social visibility, raise awareness for the significance of the phenomena of impoverishment in Portuguese society, in its extent and intensity.
